Abstract
Dorrance (1) and VVardill (2) introduced and popularized methods of repair of the cleft palate that were combined with lengthening of the palate. In the last half of the nineteenth century, numerous modifications of this concept found their way into the literature. Some of them were abandoned (3); others stood the test of time (4, 5) and are still being used today.
